Obituary of Anthony Albano

Anthony Albano, 96, of Castleton Corners, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2018, at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Carmela (nee Potenza); loving father of James Albano, Teresa M. Francis and her husband, John Francis, Diane Lange and her husband, Fred J. Lange; cherished grandfather of James, Patricia, Amanda, Diana, Michael, Maria, Lisa and Melissa; devoted great-grandfather of ten; dear brother of Antoinette Grande. Anthony was born in Manhattan in 1921 and was brought to Staten Island as an infant. He was raised in Sunnyside and was a graduate of a Vocational High School on Staten Island. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1945. Mr. Albano was employed by the NYC Department of Highways, for approximately 25 years. In his spare time he thoroughly enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, and cooking (especially Italian specialties). He was described as having a great sense of humor and was loved by all whom he encountered. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., departing on Wednesday at 10 am. Funeral Mass is scheduled at St. Teresa's R.C. Church at 10:45 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Visitation hours are Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm.
