Obituary of Jeffrey J. Darraugh
Jeffrey Darraugh, resident of Plainfield, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 10, 2023. Jeff was preceded in death by his loving parents, James and Catherine Darraugh. He is survived by his loving girlfriend, Kerri Walsh. He was the loving father of Nicole Szeman and former partner of Dawn Szeman. Cherished brother of Justin Darraugh and sister-in-law, Tara. He is also survived by his sisters, Cynthia Darraugh, Catherine Canavan, and brother-in-law, Bobby Canavan. He was the loving uncle of Taylor Marotto, Evan, Kerri and Janine Gilmartin. He was also a beloved nephew, cherished cousin and friend to many.
Jeff was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and grew up in both Brooklyn and Staten Island. He was a graduate of Moore Catholic H.S.. Soon after graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was honorably discharged. He spent most of his career as an engineer and elevator mechanic, then went on to pursue his passion of being self-employed through endeavors such as website programming and design, construction, digital business marketing, decorative painting and day trading.
Jeff loved to cook and was a chef by nature. He also enjoyed playing guitar, reading non-fiction, listening to music, and was an avid New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan.
Jeff will always be remembered with a smile on his face, probably laughing with another joke ready to go. His presence brought a relaxing atmosphere everywhere he went and to everyone he interacted with. He naturally captured people with his infectious personality. People couldn't help but to be drawn to him and want to know more about him. He had an appreciation for fine details that others would overlook. Often you would learn something new from him on a wide variety of topics.
Jeff was extremely kind and ready to help others selflessly at the drop of a hat. His depth and breadth of knowledge coupled with his intense mental and physical strength allowed him to touch the lives of so many in a positive way. He was truly a great friend. His fervent passion for life was clear to everyone, especially the loved ones closest to him. He will forever be treasured and remembered by those that knew him for his infectious positive energy and loving ways.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Saturday, 12/16/2023, Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home at 5:30 PM. Family and friends may visit on Saturday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.
