Obituary of Pedro F. Elias
Pedro Francisco Elias Delgado passed away on January 17, 2024. He turned 66 a few weeks back. He departed peacefully at his home in Staten Island surrounded by his family.
Pedro was born on December 4, 1957 in Cojutepeque, El Salvador. He was the son of Francisco Elias and Adela Delgado de Elias. The second oldest of twelve children, Pedro was a father-like figure to many of his siblings. He arrived in New York in the 1980s and became a best-in-class plumber that won the hearts and trust of clients for over 40 years. Pedro retired in 2020.
Pedro met the love of his life - Alma Montenegro - while playing soccer in Red Hook, Brooklyn. They began dating in 1982 and married in 1987. Shortly thereafter, they purchased a home in Staten Island and welcomed three children. Pedro loved watching and playing soccer, grilling steak and chorizos, and going to Atlantic City (at the request of his wife). When Pedro wasn't busy with his hobbies, he was usually making repairs at home or for his neighbors (free of charge). Over the years, he went by many nicknames with siblings calling him "Paqui", clients calling him "Peter", and others calling him "Fran", "Francisco" or "Chicopancho."
Pedro is survived by his wife of 40 years Alma Montenegro de Elias; his daughter Jessica Contardo; his sons Jonathan and Peter Elias; his three grandchildren Michael, Logan, and Isabelle; his brothers and sisters in the United States and El Salvador; as well as his extended family and friends.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always took care of his family. His support for his children and family abroad was unwavering. He loved taking vacations in El Salvador and Guatemala where he appreciated nature and the local cuisine. He will be greatly missed.
