Obituary of John C. Lamendella

John C. Lamendella, age 98, of Bulls Head, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the late Laura; loving father of Dr. Joseph T. Lamendella and his wife, Marie, and the late John C. Lamendella, Jr; cherished grandfather of Dr. Regina Lamendella and her husband, Christopher, the late Dr. Joseph Lamendella, Jr., John Lamendella, III, and his wife, Penny, Dana Skopp and her husband, Marshall; devoted great-grandfather of five. He was predeceased by his five siblings. John was born in Republic, PA, in 1919. He came to Staten Island as a small child, being raised in Mariner's Harbor. He was a graduate of Port Richmond High School. After his graduation, he proudly served during WW II, in the US Army. His career spanned many years with the FDNY, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1977. In his spare time he enjoyed fine dining, and spending summers at the Jersey Shore with his grandchildren Regina and Joseph. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., on Saturday, departing at 9 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 9:30 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
