sorry for your loss mr p, it's a loss for everyone that ever knew ms p. she made everyones life better with her math teaching skills and her contagious smile, that made everyone want to be there.you don,t realize as a young kid the impact teachers have on you later on in life, you too mr p. made your students lives better with your teaching, it felt, like you were both friends of the students, the algebra skills you both taught were used later on in life, taking tests for jobs that had math especially algebra.i was able to be successful in life because of educators like mr and mrs p. always remembered, andrew walters

So sorry to hear that the best math teacher I ever had has passed. She taught me algebra in 77-78. She was so very cool with her stylish tight perm. She had the best smile! I still remember I got 90 on the regents that year and it was all due to ms. Karafa/ ms. P as she’s known now. May she rest in peace.

Mr. Pietromonaco, Jenny, Becky, Holly and family,
I am so saddened by the news of Marilyn’s passing. She was an incredible woman and teacher. I loved her so much. She was so present in my early teens and loved me as her own. She taught me how to spell her last name in threes so I would remember it. She always matched the color of her sweaters with the color of her Rebok sneakers. I have endless memories.
This one of my favorite pictures of her. I took it from my seat in her classroom. I spent so much time with her in middle school. She listened to my endless stories about anything and everything. She taught me about “hippie music” and allowed me to dream big. She teased me and I’d give it right back. I will never forget our special times together and will always be grateful she let me in.
May you Rest in Peace
Love

Marilyn,
you were my most cherished friend, I have so many fond memories of the kind generous individual you were. You were a gifted teacher who was at her best with students who found Math challenging. You were patient and showed such understanding . You treated them with respect and gave them the dignity and confidence they needed to succeed.
You were loyal and generous with your friends. I remember when you, Marie, Karen, Roseann, Diane and Pat would have lunch in your office. Each of you just enjoying each other's company. When the popcorn was popped, the delicious aroma wafted into the classroom next door where I was teaching. It put me and my pupils in a pleasant mood. It was an amazing phenomenon. How did it happen? lol
You were fiercely proud of your family. Jenny, Becky, and Holly are who they are today because of both your and Emil's parenting. They are fine mothers, professionals, and individuals thanks to your example and strong commitments. As much as your love for the girls and their spouses was boundless, your love for AnnaRose, Chris, Nicholas, Sam and Tess was even more profound. You helped raise them and nurtured them with joy. You made their early childhood fun. You loved to talk about their daily accomplishments. It was heaven on earth for you.
After we retired we along with Emil and Peter enjoyed spending more and more time together. We talked about everything and nothing. There were times when we did no talking at all. It was not necessary. We understood each other. We operated on the same wavelengths. We all shared the same values. We were all a comfortable fit. It felt good. It was just right.
Your beautiful garden and your quirky "life is good" t-shirts (of which you had hundreds lol) are a metaphor for the kind of life you led. You enjoyed your life and wanted to share happiness.
I am going to miss your intelligence, kindness, sincerity and generosity. Most of all I will miss your friendship.
Rest in peace sweet Marilyn,
Grace
