Obituary of Mary Fitzpatrick

May 8, 1925-February 3, 2024 Mary Fitzpatrick passed peacefully in her sleep on February 3, 2024. Born May 8, 1925, to Anna Siokaylo on the Lower East Side of NYC, Mary was a lifelong resident of New York. Mary started working to help support her family after she graduated eighth grade with jobs at the Tootsie Roll Factory and Woolworth. She became a mother and a homemaker after she married her first husband, John Rostawanik. She and John had four children: John, Robert, Kathy, and Steven. After her husband's death in 1977, she once again got a job to support her family at Dunkin Donuts. It was there that she met her second husband, Walter Fitzpatrick. Walter and Mary moved off Staten Island and fixed up a home on Long Island where they lived for a few years before moving to Stamford, NY. They lived in Stamford for over 30 years when Walter passed away. Mary returned to Staten Island after Walter's death. Mary was a kind, animal loving woman that loved to sit by the water and enjoy the scenery. She was an active member of her senior citizens group in Stamford, NY and she loved to dance. She was known in Travis as the "Crazy Cat Lady" as she fed all the stray cats in town. Mary loved spending time with her family. Mary is survived by her son Robert and his wife Gail Rostawanik, her son Steven Rostawanik, her daughter-in-law Angelita Rostawanik, stepson Walter P. Fitzpatrick III; and stepdaughters Debra Curran and Christine Rojack. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren as well as many great-grandchildren who all loved her very much. She is predeceased by her husbands John Rostawanik and Walter Fitzpatrick, her daughter Kathy Rostawanik and her son John Rostawanik. Visitation will be held at Matthew Funeral Home on Tuesday February 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 7 at 11AM at Matthew Funeral Home.
