Obituary of Benito Garcia

We are sad to announce the passing of our father, Benito (Benny) Garcia of Mariners Harbor. Joining his beloved wife Amelia, he peacefully transitioned this life on March 5, 2024 at the handsome age of 87. A faithful husband, doting father and grandfather, his family was his greatest joy. Benny was the epitome of supporting, loving, protecting and providing for one’s family. A native New Yorker, he worked in a crystal factory in Queens, ultimately retiring from the NYC Transportation Authority. In addition to setting the “gold standard” for his family to emulate, his favorite activities were bowling, playing chess and watching his beloved TV shows. One knew to never change channels while the TV was recording. Whether sending cards or calling at 6am, Benny never missed a birthday or any other special day. Together for 64 years, Benny is predeceased by his loving wife Amelia, brothers Angelo and Alexander. He is survived by his sister Carmen; daughters Lizette, Tanya (Marlon Sr) and Amy; grandson Daniel; great grandkids Deana, Marlon Jr and Antonio; great great grandson Gabriel; nieces Mona, Margaret and Debbie; nephew Angelo (Hawon); and great niece Ramona.
