Obituary of Vera A. Vardijan

Vera A. Vardijan (nee Gallo), age 69, passed away on April 28, 2018, at Staten Island University Hospital, after complications from Diabetes and Kidney Failure. She was the beloved wife of Peter for 42 years; loving mother of Carolyn Humphreys and her husband, Ryan; cherished grandmother of Brittany, Stephen, Russell and Ashley Humphreys; dear sister of Catherine Limato. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Vera was born in Brooklyn in 1948. She came to Staten Island as a young child, settling in the South Beach neighborhood. She was an alumna of New Dorp High School, Class of 1967. She married her husband Peter on August 2, 1975. She was employed for many years as a Nurse's Aide at the former Doctor's Hospital. In later years she worked as a Bus Matron. Some of her hobbies included watching Elvis Movies and baking. Most important, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vera's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation. Funeral Service is scheduled at the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., on Tuesday at 8 pm. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 4 to 9 pm. Arrangements include a private cremation.
