Obituary of Noemi "Naomi" Lecler
Noemi Lecler (lovingly known as Naomi), age 88, passed away peacefully at her
home in Staten Island on April 6, 2024. Naomi was born in Mayaguez, Puerto
Rico, where she grew up in a loving home with her parents and six siblings. She
moved to New York at the tender age of 19 with her sights set on building a
better life for her future family.
Naomi was a devout Catholic and strong in her beliefs. She enjoyed cooking,
sewing, dancing, music and family gatherings. She worked as a school bus driver
until she retired and was a full-time grandma. You could often find Naomi picking
up her grandchildren at school or helping her three children around their homes.
Jay, her oldest son, Alice, her only daughter, and Antonio, her baby boy, were her
entire world. Her children gave her strength and brought her immense joy.
Naomi found beauty and good in everything around her and created beauty in her
children. She loved her family and was so proud of her children, grandchildren,
and great grandchildren. Her family and friends will hold dear the stories we will
be privileged to tell them of the funny, kind and loving woman Naomi was.
Naomi is survived by her children, Jay and daughter-in-law Donna, Alice and son-
in-law Russell, and Antonio and daughter-in-law Jennifer; her fourteen
grandchildren, Michelle, Jayson, Jared, Justin, Jordan, Erika and her husband Billy,
Kristen, Joshua, Gabrielle, Christopher, Alexandria and Ryan; her seven great
grandchildren, Juliet, William, Russell, Erik, Charles, Jayden and Cash; her dear
benevolent caregiver, Innocencia; close family Shiretta and Andrea; along with
many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Candida and Fernando. Waiting at
the gates of heaven for her were her six siblings, Esther, Isabel, Samuel, Enemia,
Carmen and Josue.
