Obituary of Rita K. Zucal

Rita K. Zucal passed away on April 7, 2024, at the age of 94.

Rita was raised in Pottsville, PA and later moved to Hartford, CT before settling in Staten Island. She raised her five sons in Westerleigh. She was on the PTA at PS 30 and worked in Tottenville HS as a cook.

She enjoyed spending time with her family whether at the dining room table or in the swimming pool. She loved hosting large gatherings for the holidays especially Thanksgiving where she included her daughter-in-law's families.

She spent 20 years of her retirement in Florida. She ran many group trips for the Red Hats and enjoyed card games, Dominos, Scrabble and Mah Jongg. She also kept busy with her arts and crafts which she loved sharing with everyone.

In Staten Island, she belonged to the Holy Family Senior Group as well as the Red Hats. She enjoyed outings, going to lunch and spending time with friends.

Rita was always seen with her disposable camera. She loved to take candid photos and frequently cut off the tops of heads. If you weren't in the group photo, no problem, Rita would paste your face from another photo. She was ahead of Photo Shop.

She is survived by four sons, Robert, David, Ralph, and Eugene (Gene), as well as six grandchildren, and five great granchildren. Rita was predeceased in death by her late husband Albert V. in 1997 and her late son Albert R. in 2021.
