Obituary of Frank John Bortle

Frank J. Bortle, 54, of West Brighton, Staten Island passed away on May 13, 2024 at RUMC. He was born on August 12, 1969 to Julia and Frank Bortle (deceased).  

He graduated St Peter’s Boy High School in 1987 and attended St. John’s University where he was a brother of Sigma Chi Upsilon. Early in his career Frank took a sales position in Michigan and later returned to Staten Island where he became a Senior Marketing Consultant for ValPak. In 2008 Frank married the love of his life, Stephanie Salsarulo. Frank and Stephanie have two beautiful children, John & Giulianna. 

Frank loved attending his son’s basketball and baseball games and watching his daughter’s dance recitals. He enjoyed traveling to Vermont and LBI with his family and entertaining at his home where he was a master on the grill and always the life of the party. Frank made everyone smile and laugh with his larger-than-life personality. He was passionate about the Yankees, Rangers and Miami Dolphins and his hero Dan Marino.

Frank is survived by Maryellen Saldanha (Ben), Barbara Bortle-Gainey, Julia Curran (Rob), Ruthanne Bortle, Wade Bortle (Erin), brother-in-law Christopher Salsarulo, sister-in-law Jennifer Davenport, 16 nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews.
