Obituary of Louis Dontis

Louis “Louie Dee” James Dontis

November 2, 1954 – July 17, 2024

Louis "Louie Dee" James Dontis, 69, of Staten Island, New York, passed away on July 17, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 2, 1954, to James and Carrie Dontis, Louie Dee was a proud New Yorker through and through.

He graduated from New Utrecht High School in 1972 and went on to become a successful business owner of trucking companies and a teamster.

Lou is survived by his beloved wife Sandra; his mother Carrie; his children Lisa, James, and Diana; his sons-in-law Robert and Richard, and daughter-in-law Morgan; his grandchildren Robert, Jason, Addison, Sophia, and Christian; his brother Nick and sister Kris; his sister-in-law Vicky and brother-in-law Paul.

Lou had a lifelong passion for muscle cars, Mack trucks, and fishing. He was a devoted member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Known for his big personality and humor, Louie Dee embodied an old-school work ethic and a "do it yourself" attitude. He was an avid Trump supporter and worked tirelessly to provide a wonderful life for his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment as their Papou.

Visitation will be held at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, on Saturday from 7 PM to 9 PM, and on Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM. The funeral service will take place on Monday 10 AM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1641 Richmond Ave.

Louie Dee will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to The American Heart Association.
