Obituary of Frank A. Socci

Frank A. Socci Sr, 92, of Brick, New Jersey passed away on Monday August 12, 2024. Frank was born July 13, 1932 in Staten Island, New York (West Brighton). There he played varsity football at Curtis High School and graduated in 1950. Frank married his high school sweetheart, Mary C. Brogna, in October of 1952. He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954 where he was stationed in Korea. Upon returning, he attended Richmond County Community College where he founded student government and became the first student body president of the college. After graduation, Frank was employed by Con Edison in Staten Island where he worked until retiring at 62. Frank also worked as an assistant manager at the Ritz, Paramount, and St. George Theatres. He was an active member of both Mt. Carmel-St. Benedicta Parish and Joseph F Merrill American Legion Post where he served as Commander.

In 1994 Frank and Mary retired to Princeton Commons, Brick, New Jersey. There he was a member of the Men’s Club, played Bocce, and helped organize many trips and events at the Club House. Frank was an officer at the Old Guard.

Frank's hobbies included playing golf, enjoying the horse races, traveling, including frequent trips to Atlantic City-sitting at the Craps table. He was an avid fan of the New York Mets and the New York Giants. Family gatherings were very important to him, whether he was cooking his famous Vodka Sauce or relaxing with a 7&7.

Frank is survived by his four children; Anthony (Nanci) Socci, Rosemary Cerreta (Joseph Margiotta, Fiancé), Frank (Lisa) Socci, and Christopher (Marivic) Socci. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and his nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his dear friend Clara Szott. Frank is predeceased by his parents; Valentina nee DiMarzio and Antonio Socci, his wife Mary, son-in-law Kenneth Cerreta and two sisters-Theresa DeLisa and Catherine Nacchio.

Visitation will be held at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, New York, on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Benedicta Church, Staten Island, New York, Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., followed by the burial at St. Peter's Cemetery, Staten Island, New York.
