Obituary of Philomena Giambrone

Philomena Giambrone, age 94, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024. She was the devoted daughter of the late Pelligrino and Anna Giannatasio. Philomena was the beloved wife of the late Charles Giambrone. She was the loving mother of Thomas Giambrone (Debi) and Diane Marsh and her late husband Jim and the late Charles T. Giambrone. Philomena was the dear grandmother of Michael (Audrey), Jessica (Tom), Victoria (Sarah), Keith (Tara) and James. She was the cherished great grandmother of Jocelyn, James Jr., KJ, Lily, Amelia, Luciana, Elle, Tommy, Vinny, Joey and Vivi. She was the fond sister of Danny and the late Nicholas, John, Joseph, Yolanda “Linda” Ellis, Connie Winant, Ann Ventrone and Maryann Morris. Philomena is survived by her sister-in-law, Kathleen. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

 

Philomena was born and raised in Staten Island, NY. She resided in the same home for over 70 years. She was a crossing guard at St. Roch’s School, P.S. 22 and worked as a Lunch Aide in the NYC Department of Education. Philomena was a lifetime member of the St. Ann’s Society at St. Roch’s Church. She was an avid baker who made amazing butter cookies and doll cakes that her family always looked forward to enjoying. In her spare time, she loved to play cards with friends, take trips to Atlantic City, gardening and tending to her flowers. Philomena will be remembered as a kindhearted, generous and selfless person who put the needs and wants of others before her own. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.

 

Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Saturday, 9/21/2024, departing at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Roch’s R.C. Church at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Friday, 9/20/2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
