Obituary of Rosaria Caldarella

Rosaria "Sara" Caldarella, beloved aunt, sister, great aunt, and cousin passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, just as she wanted. Sara was born in Godrano, Sicily in 1940 and came to the United States with her mom and brothers in the late 1960's and settled in Brooklyn.

Sara and her brother, Ignazio moved to Staten Island in 1987. Sara owned and operated Jennie's Pizzeria in Canarsie Brooklyn, alongside her brothers for 40 years, finally retiring in 2003.

Sara enjoyed spending her retirement with her family. Sara's biggest joy came from sitting in front of her house, watching neighborhood kids play and grow up as well as sitting outside with her Boston Terrier, Jack.

No one could walk past her driveway without being offered a chair! She will be missed by her neighbors on Norwich Street.

Sara now joins her brothers Antonino, Francesco and Ignazio. Sara is survived by her nieces and nephews Dr. Felice Caldarella (Gina) Giovanna Caldarella (Kevin Ward), Maria Larocca, Maria Caldarella (Debra Trapanotto), Paul, Manny and Luisa Figlia.

Sara is also survived by 11 great nieces, 4 great nephews, and a great, great niece, who viewed her more as a grandmother than an aunt.

The family would also like to send their love and appreciation to the wonderful women who took great care of Sara within the last of couple of years and her last moments.

Until we meet again...
