Obituary of Pasqualina L. Pettinato
Pasqualina “Pat” Pettinato, 97, passed away on September 24, 2024. Born Pasqualina Presutti, on Feb. 19, 1927, the only daughter of Carmella Giafagna and Antonio Presutti, she was predeceased by her husband Romeo Pettinato as well as her four brothers, John, Armond “Eddie”, Mario & Michael. She is survived by her beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews too numerous to name as well as her beloved sister-in-law Chris .
Pat was a life-long Staten Islander who grew up in New Brighton, where she attended the old P.S.17 and Curtis High School. Starting as a teenager Pat worked for the New York Telephone Company for nearly four decades, and spent her golden years with her beloved husband Romeo in their Willowbrook home, until he passed away in 2008.
Forever a youthful spirit, she and her husband were active in the AARP, traveled often and participated in both square dancing and ballroom dancing. Pat was always impeccably dressed and enjoyed shopping and putting together outfits that always had to match. She relished time with friends and family and enjoyed nothing more than fellowship with loved ones. She was an avid baker and cook and passed down many recipes to her family. Her Italian Easter Cheesecake and Apple Cakes were crowd pleasers at every family gathering.
With a resilient spirit, she persevered throughout her life, and maintained her sharp wit until the very end. Her strength and determination was an inspiration to all who had the chance to know her in her near century on this earth.
The visitation will be at Matthew Funeral home on Thursday September 26th from 4pm-8pm. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday September 27th at 10am, with interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
