Obituary of Salvatore I. Della Rocca
Salvatore Della Rocca, 88, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 5th after a long battle with a terminal illness. Born and raised in Port Richmond, Staten Island, New York, Sal was well-loved and respected in his community. During his life, he served as a soldier in our Armed Forces for 6 years and went on to become a commercial artist, creating cartoons, advertisements and animal portraits. Many of his pieces hang on the walls in family homes. He had a kindhearted, loving spirit and was there to help anyone in need. He lived for his family and that gave him a great sense of pride.
Sal was a brother to Louise and Vincent. He is survived by his wife, Emma Della Rocca, and his three children, Lisa, Salvatore and Maria. Beloved grandfather to Alessandra, Caitlin, Salvatore and Nicholas. Great grandfather to Austin and Autumn.
He may be gone but will never be forgotten.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., on Thursday, 10/10/2024, departing at 10:15 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church at 11:00 AM. Private cremation to follow. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, 10/9/2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
