Obituary of Phyllis Giammarino DeLuca
Phyllis Giammarino DeLuca, 76, transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 12 after lifelong health complications. She was born in Brooklyn on January 2, 1948, to Dan and Ray Giammarino.
She is survived by her siblings Tommy Giammarino (Patricia) and Donna Santangelo (the late Richie) and the late Rosanne Hefter (Shelly).
Phyllis married Tony DeLuca on May 11, 1968. Their son Anthony was born a few years later. She is survived by them, and Anthony ‘s wife Maria, and their children Isabella and Christian. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was a true music buff with a very extensive collection. Music helped Phyllis navigate the health challenges that she dealt with. She was well-read and often gave advice on tasteful and choice life offerings.
Despite her limited social activity, Phyllis had a generous nature. She used that virtue to express her thoughtfulness. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother and prayerfully put her life and Mary’s hands.
Family and friends may visit the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd on Friday 10/18 from 8:15-10:15am. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Rita’s Church at 11:00am. Interment will be held after mass at Green-Wood Cemetery.
