Obituary of Concetta M. Kelly

Concetta M. Kelly (nee Gelfo) age 82 passed away peacefully on October 17th, 2024, in her home with family at her side in Boca Raton Fl.

“Connie” was born in Manhattan to the late August and Rose Gelfo (nee Fedow). She was raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and went to O.L.P.H. High School and loved to play basketball. There is where she met her husband, Ralph.  After graduation she worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance.

While Ralph was on leave from the U.S. Navy, they married on September 15th 1962 at O.L.P.H. They then had three children and raised a family.

In August of 1978 Connie lost her husband to cancer. She then continued to raise their children on her own with help from family.

Connie loved life and was an avid stain glass hobbyist and jigsaw puzzle solver. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and making lots of blankets and baby clothes for friends and family. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. Her home had lots of decorations that she would leave up until February

Connie was the loving mother to James Kelly wife Denise, John Kelly wife Pattianne, and the late Stacey Kelly. She was the loving grandmother to Rachael Kelly and husband Robert Feeney, Cheyenne and Alexandra Castillo, Jon-Paul and Jennifer Kelly.

She was the dear sister of Carol and her late husband Eugen Rassmussen, late brother August “Gussie” and his wife Annete (nee Florio). Connie was also a beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind the love of her life a miniature Doberman by the name of Brandy.

Visitation will be at Matthew Funeral Home at 2508 Victory Blvd Staten Island Monday 11/4/2024 from 9AM to 9:45AM. No flowers please. Mass to follow at 10:45 O.L.P.H. 5th Ave and 60th St. Brooklyn.

After mass Connie will be laid to rest with her husband Ralph at Long Island National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
