Obituary of Robert Bellach

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Bellach, age 85, who passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2024, after a brief illness. Bob was a lifelong resident of Staten Island, born in Midland Beach and ultimately raising his family in Travis. A pigeon fancier from boyhood, he enjoyed raising and racing his pigeons under the moniker, "Suggestion Loft", proudly winning many races throughout the years. Bob worked as an ironworker under Local 11 for 30 years, and with great pride would point out the products of his hard work and dedication to his craft. He retired in 1995. Our dad never turned his back on someone in need and developed lifelong friendships in doing so. He was a jokester by nature and often touted himself as the best in any game that was played. He will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him and had the pleasure of loving him. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Virginia "Sis" Bellach (McNeil), his granddaughter, Jennifer, his parents, Robert & Jane (Ehring) and his siblings, Edward, Jane Sinclair and Letitia Porter. A devoted dad, Bob is survived by his loving children, Virginia "Ginny" Cortese, Patricia Straub, Robert W. Bellach, Christina Ingravallo and Michelle Wolf, his nine cherished grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc. 2508 Victory Blvd, on Friday 11/15 departing at 10:15AM. Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick's Church at 11AM. Interment to follow at Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Thursday 11/14 from 3-9PM.
