Obituary of Jo Ann Lorenzo

Jo Ann Lorenzo, 81, of Meiers Corners, passed away on November 23rd, 2024 surrounded by her family at Staten Island University Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Anthony. She is also survived by her children Nick Lorenzo and his wife Lisa, Kimberly Sarich and her husband Mike, Veronica Cecil and her husband William, Mary Plachcinski and her husband Matthew and her grandchildren Nicholas, Matthew, Andrew, Dylan, Ryan, Presley and great granddaughter, Alessia Rose.

Jo Ann was a native Staten Islander born to Joseph and Eleanore Naimo. She grew up in West Brighton in the early years of her life. As a teenager, she moved to South Beach and graduated from New Dorp High school where she met the love of her life Anthony. After her marriage to Anthony, they settled down in Meiers Corners where they raised their family.

Jo Ann was a devoted Catholic and very much involved in St. Rita's parish for over 50 years. During that time, she was a member of the St. Rita Parish Council, The Ladies Auxiliary, Scout Leader and dedicated CCD teacher. In her later years she became a member of the St. Rita's Ladies Guild.

Jo Ann enjoyed cooking, baking and doing crafts. She was able to take many wonderful trips to places like Niagara Falls, Alaska, Bermuda, Ireland and Nova Scotia. She also enjoyed her yearly family vacations to Long Beach Island, New Jersey. But mostly, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchild.

Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, 11/30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita R.C. Church at 10am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, 11/29 from 2:00 -4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm.
