Obituary of Gary T. Lane

Gary T. Lane Sr.
May 24, 1951 – December 2, 2024

Gary T. Lane Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of the Staten Island community, passed away on December 2, 2024, at the age of 73.

Born in the Elm Park section of Staten Island and raised in Mariners Harbor, Gary was a proud graduate of Port Richmond High School, Class of 1969. After high school, he served honorably in the New York State Army National Guard, reflecting his lifelong dedication to service.

Gary's professional life was marked by his long and dedicated career as an electrical foreman with the New York City Board of Education. Throughout that time, he served as the chairman of the A-City Division, Local 3, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), where he advocated for electricians that worked for the city of New York.

After his years serving as a union leader, Gary became deeply involved in his community. He was a past president and current member of the Democratic Organization of Richmond County. He also serves as a board advisor for the Port Richmond Strong-North Shore Alliance. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 3, and a board member of the Port Richmond High School Alumni Association

Gary's faith played an important role in his life, and he was a dedicated head usher at St. Adalbert's/St. Roch's Parish, where he was a welcoming presence, and known for his generosity and faith.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Marie (Leone) Lane, but is survived by his devoted wife, Louise (Mayora) Lane; his three children, Gary Lane Jr., Jason Lane, and Jennifer Convissar; his brother, Jeffrey; and his eight beloved grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and joy.

Gary’s legacy of service, faith, and leadership will live on in the many lives he touched.  His kindness, dedication, and strength will be remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Matthew Funeral Home on Saturday, 12/7/2024, and Sunday, 12/8/2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  The funeral will be held on Monday, 12/9/2024, departing at 9:15 AM for a funeral Mass to be celebrated in St. Adalbert’s Church at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation in Gary’s memory.

May he rest in peace.
