Mark Stephen Murasso
August 29, 1961- December 3, 2024
Mark Stephen Murasso was born in Brooklyn, New York to Alfred Joseph Murasso and Joanne Setaro Murasso on August 29, 1961. He was a dedicated husband, father, brother, Uncle and son. Mark was always very athletic. He played football at Monsignor Farrell Highschool, beginning his lifelong passion for athletics. He went on to study political science and graduated from State University of Brockport, New York. There he continued his passion and played rugby throughout college. In his early twenties, he ran his first of many marathons, in New York City, of course. Mark became an electrician in Local IBEW 3 where he was a steward and leader in the union. He actively lobbied for Local 3, using his political science background and incredible interpersonal skills. Mark also refereed club soccer in both New York and New Jersey, which he loved. Even after retiring, Mark continued to referee and was extremely proud to have become an NCAA college soccer official; the culmination of his skill and dedication for refereeing. Mark was also extremely proud to share his love of sports with his son Mark Jr. He coached Mark Jr’s soccer team from kindergarten through eighth grade. Mark and his son then went on to referee club soccer together, loving every minute of it. He was incredibly proud of his son and they shared an unparalleled father - son relationship. They both loved attending concerts and sporting events together. He remained in contact with his rugby friends and his brothers at Local 3 and enjoyed spending time with them. Mark was a dedicated member of his community, volunteering annually at the election polls. He was a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament and defined faith in action by his selflessness with friends and family. His wit and love of life was unsurpassed.
Mark was predeceased by his father Alfred J. Murasso and is survived by his wife Colleen, his son Mark Jr., his mother Joanne Murasso, his sisters Valerie and Stephanie, his brother Richard, his nieces and nephews; Michael, Christopher, Benjamin, Adam, Andrew, Elizabeth, Allison and Daniel. He was a dedicated, loving husband, father, brother, Uncle and son. He will be missed beyond words but never forgotten.
