Obituary of Agnes C. Steele

Agnes Steele (nee O'Neil), 85, passed away on June 20, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Steele. She was the loving mother of Michele Hughes and her late husband James, Kathleen Smolka and her late husband Raymond, Donna Madden and her late husband Harry and the late Charles P. Steele Jr. She was the cherished grandmother of Mary Kate, Seamus, Michael and the late PatriciaAnne Hughes, Raymond III and his late wife Suzanne, Patrick and his wife Rachel, John and his wife Denise and Daniel Smolka, Terrence, Peter and Kasie Madden. She was the dear great grandmother of Kayla, Charlie, John Jr. and Jacqueline Smolka. Agnes was an avid bowler who was also very involved with the local community as a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, she was also a member of the Staten Island Historical Society, and she volunteered at the former St. Vincent's Hospital. She was a diehard New York Mets and New York Giants fan. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Family R.C. Church at 10:00 AM. An interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
