Obituary of Raymond B. Melnik
Raymond B. Melnik, age 84, passed away on July 12, 2018.
Son of Sophie Picur and Baisil Melnik. Youngest of ten brothers and sisters. Born on
Cannon Avenue in Travis.
Served two tours of duty in the Korean War with the US Navy. Raymond experienced
combat at the age of 17 aboard the LSMR525, USS St. Francis River.
After the service, Raymond became a NYC Police Officer. Raymond later worked as a
Security Officer at the former St. Vincent's Hospital.
Raymond is survived by his former wife Lori Lambertson and his second wife Victoria
Melnik. Daughters Eileen Gupta and Denise Corbin (Richard), son Raymond Melnik
(Rim), Jonathan Benefiel (Gail). Grandchildren Yuri Gupta (Amanda), Ravi Gupta,
Natalie Gupta, Kyle Melnik, Leah Melnik, and Sophie Corbin, 1 great grandchild
Maxwell Gupta. Raymond is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project in
Raymond's memory.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday,
departing at 8:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua
RC Church at 9:30 am. Interment to follow in Church of St. Andrew's Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
