Obituary of Carmelo Giorlando D.D.S.
Dr. Carmelo Giorlando, age 93, of Westerleigh, passed away on November 6, 2017. He was the beloved husband for 62 years of Pauline (nee Mantione); loving father of Dr. Carl S. Giorlando and his wife Nancy, John A. Giorlando and Dr. Mary E. Giorlando; dear friend of Constance Caso; cherished grandfather of Christopher, Daniel and Julieanne; fond brother of Mae Valenziano, Phyllis Altomare and Rosalie Caputo. Dr. Carmelo Giorlando was predeceased by his parents, Patrina and Carlo Giorlando, his brother, Andrew Giorlando and his sister, Antoinette Bower.
Dr. Carmelo Giorlando was a native Staten Islander who raised his family in Westerleigh. In 1947 he graduated from NYU Dental. Dr. Carmelo Giorlando was a true patriot and served his country stateside during World War II stationed in South Carolina. He later served in Kaufbeuren, Germany and Austria for one year in 1952. He was the youngest Past President of the Richmond county dental society 1964. In his spare time, Dr. Carmelo Giorlando loved to travel with his dear wife Pauline. They went to Alaska, Italy, Switzerland, England, France, Germany and Austria.
In his spare time, Dr. Carmelo Giorlando enjoyed gardening and doing various projects around the house. He will be remembered as a tremendous role model with a great work ethic and a big heart. He will be deeply missed.
