Obituary of Arthur Guarnieri

Arthur Guarnieri, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on August 27, 2018 at the age of 90. Arthur was born November 7, 1927 in Roccella Ionica, Italy. He was one of six children. Arthur  came to the United States in 1947 at the age of 19 with his older brother, Frank. He built a life in Brooklyn with his wife and two sons until 1976, when they moved to Staten Island.  Arthur was a carpenter by trade and an avid gardener. He is survived by his wife, Pina, of sixty years, his sons, Arthur Jr. and Steven, daughter-in-laws, Maria and Phyllis, and his five grandchildren, Danielle, Samantha, Michael, Steven Jr., and Nicholas.

Arthur’s passion was his house in the Catskill Mountains that he built himself for his family in the 1960s and owned for over 40 years. Every weekend he would pack up his car and drive up to his Catskills home with his wife, Pina and his two sons, Arthur Jr. and Steven. He enjoyed teaching Arthur and Steven to hunt and fish, which became a hobby for the three of them to do together. As his sons grew older they brought their own families along, which were some of his most cherished memories. He spent time with his grandchildren teaching them to drive his tractor, helping him maintain his vegetable garden, and picking peaches from his own peach trees. In his later years, Arthur enjoyed spending winters with his wife at their condo in Florida.
