Obituary of Mario Salcedo

Mario Salcedo passed away on October 4, 2018 (the day of St. Francis of Assisi). He was the beloved son of the late Julia Esther and Marco Antonio Salcedo. Mario left a loving family of wife Judith, son Mario Heriberto, daughter Maria Victoria, and son Carlos Enrique. In addition, Grandpa Mario left three beautiful grandchildren: Anna Victoria Wessel, Noah Justin, and Marcus Anthony. Mario was born in Suarez, Colombia, on November 17, 1932. He and his wife Judith immigrated to the USA in 1972 in search of a better life. Mr. Salcedo worked for over 20 years at Lutheran Medical Center in maintenance, as a gardenter, and GED Science Teacher and retired from the hospital. In Colombia, Mario worked as an Agricultural Technician. This devoted father had a passion for nature. He loved fishing and gardening. In addition, he sang and played the tiple (a type of guitar with 12 strings). Mario loved Vallenato music and enjoyed life to the fullest. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 9:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 9:30 am. Committal will follow at the Rosehill Crematory, Linden, NJ. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
