Obituary of Robert G. Johnson

Robert G. Johnson, Sr., age 87, of Port Richmond, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2018, at Sea View Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of the late Antoinette (1996); loving father of Daniel Johnson and his wife, Kathy, and Robert G. Johnson, Jr, and his wife, Heather; devoted grandfather of Melissa, Alexander and Ryan Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was born in 1931 in Brooklyn and raised in the Bay Ridge neighborhood. He attended and graduated from Fort Hamilton High School. Robert moved to Staten Island in 1959, with his wife Antoinette. In his younger years he was employed as an Engineer for freight trains on Staten Island and then worked as a Conductor for Staten Island Rapid Transit Authority. Later on he worked for the Department of Corrections as an Auto Body Specialist, retiring in 2001. Robert enjoyed all things Antique Cars and collected them and worked on them and entered auto shows with them, collecting some trophies along the way.

Funeral Service at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, October 16, at 10 am. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
