Obituary of Sebastian A. Serrano
Sebastian “sebitas” “sebby” Serrano, age 17, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017. He was the beloved son of Alejandra Moreno and Mario Espino. He was the adored brother of Ethan Espino and Tristan Espino. He was the cherished Grandson of Maria de Pilar Hurtado who was also his Mami Pilos.
Sebastian was born at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, New York on Tuesday, December 21, 1999. He came into this world at 5:38 am, 7 pounds 9 ounces of a healthy baby boy. From that day forward he was surrounded by the love of his Mother Alejandra, his Mami Pilos, his aunts Claudia and Blanca. This Love would be amplified through to his father Mario his grandpa Albino and his aunts Nadia and Noham.
Sebastian attended College before most... he was enrolled at Hunter College (daycare) at the tender age of 2 years and 9 months. He completed pre-k and kindergarten at Hunter and graduated top of his class.
We moved to the borough of Staten Island in December 2004. We moved to a block where Sebastian would make lifelong friends. He attended P.S. 60 from first grade through fifth grade. He was loved by all of his teachers. During parent teacher conferences they would all say how much of a pleasure he was to have. It was there where he met some of his childhood friends. He graduated and moved on to IS 72. All knew him for his unique fashion sense and love for character as he was quite the character himself. He moved on to high school where he built an army of friends new and old. In high school he met a young girl that would change his life forever, Brittney Pagan. They would show each other what true love meant. Sebastian graduated from Wagner High School and celebrated like never before!
Sebastian’s passion was for basketball. He loved the game and he played any chance he could, with his friends his brothers and his father. His second passion was sneakers, and his dream came true when he started working at footlocker as he had unlimited access to sneakers even though he couldn’t wear them. He was so happy just being able to work there and turned co workers into cherished friendships.
Sebastian was a wonderful brother to Ethan, he shared with him, played with him, he fought with him as brothers do, but always always had his back. He would defend him from anyone including his parents when he would get in trouble. He was an amazing brother to Tristan, they made a special bond since birth. He would hold him and hug him. He would make videos of Tristan dancing and playing! They would all go play at the park together and spend several moments bonding.
Sebastian was an amazing soul and although he spent so very few years on this earth he touched everyone hearts. Anyone who came close to him was lucky to know him to spend time with him. Sebastian was always smiling and he continues to do so, and so should we!
