Obituary of Carol Ann Matarazzo

Carol Ann Matarazzo, age 72, of Westerleigh, passed away suddenly on January 21, 2019 at Staten Island University Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Jack Stern; loving mother of Julia Dunphy, her husband Edward, and George K. Halkias; cherished grandmother of George and Edward Dunphy; dear sister of Russell, Donald, Denise, Bradley, and Vincent. Carol was born in Newark, NJ, raised in Kearny and Irvington, NJ and then moved to Brooklyn. She relocated to Staten Island 25 years ago. She was employed for 29 years for the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation as a Senior Principal Administrative Associate. Some of her hobbies included traveling, enjoying Broadway Shows, entertaining, and "spoiling" her family. Carol was also very active in the Golden Senior group at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 11 am. Funeral Service to be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.
