Mom –
You are now at rest with the love of your life for 67-1/2 years on one side and the father you adored on the other side. You will always be with me. You gave your sons their smarts and you gave me the love of travel and nature. We both attended college on full tuition academic scholarships. My three children attended college on academic scholarships. It was great being able to see you pretty much every weekend for most of your last couple of years, when you came to live on Staten Island, except for the times when I was off travelling.
Love,
Bob

As a child, my Dad talked with great pride about Cousin Mary getting her college degree and then her Masters. I knew I would be going to college and wanted to get my Masters degree , just like Mary, she was truly my role model. I am so glad that as an adult, I got to know Mary and Jack as peers and got to spend some quality time with them. I was fortunate to spend a couple of days at Les and Shirley’s home with Mary and Jack. We all shared a fun adventure at Forever Florida, which is a memory I will always treasure. My deepest condolences to all.

Mary and I were first cousins and we both started out on Monroe Street in Brooklyn; we lived across the street from Grandma McKenna, Uncle Bob, Aunt Daisy and Mary plus Uncles Mac and Leslie and I remember playing in their backyard. She had a seesaw and we did not; a treasured activity for a 5 year old (me). Mary also had a beautiful doll that our grandmother brought back from one of her trips to England. It had changes of clothes that I remember being fascinated with watching Mary showing it.
Mary and I kept in touch through the years and I remember her as a warm, very smart and caring woman. She is in my prayers today and always, Winna

We are remembering time spent with Mary (and Jack) at a “ Cousin Reunion” in (I believe) 2003. Mary and Jack, Winna and John Driscoll, Les and Shirley Flynn and John and I did a lot of reminiscing and sharing family updates. The highlight of the weekend was a tour of the Flynn family home in Milford by the new owner. It was fun to see the changes and to share more childhood stories. John and I send sincerest sympathy to Jack and to Robert and John and their families!

The last time we were together was at Katie and Jael’s rehearsal dinner and wedding. Mrs. Rogers’ love for her family was obvious. My love to all the extended family and extra hugs to Bob and Mary Pat for their lost.

I have many fond memories of my Grandma. Almost every summer growing up, my sisters and I would visit my grandparents. Sometimes it would be the three of us, sometimes just two, or even sometimes just me.
We’d do all sorts of fun activities like - - going to a carnival at the boardwalk, playing in their backyard with a Super Soaker and a Slip ‘N Slide (because my parents wouldn’t let me have one), and yes, even renting a VHS movie at the local movie store. I remember thinking it was so cool that my grandparents had a special machine to rewind VHS tapes!
My grandparents taught me many things over the many summers I had spent at their NJ residence. They taught me how do (or enjoy doing) puzzles. And they me how to fish. That was the summer they taught me how to be patient!
I love you so incredibly much Grandma! It’s going to be hard knowing you’re not around but you’ll always be in my heart.

Mary was a true friend, she and Jack were our second family, we met in 1964. Mary was full of life and extremely level headed. We shared many years of good times and friendship. She will be missed but never forgotten, may she Rest In Peace.

Mary was my dear Mother-In-Law. I first met her at Robert’s college graduation. She was very welcoming to me that day. I also got to meet her father that day which was nice. I remember being a fixture at their house in Brooklyn practically every weekend prior to marrying her oldest son Robert. She didn’t seem to mind! We bonded over our shared prematurity. She only weighed 3 lbs at birth and I weighed 2, and our parents bring good Catholics named us Mary so she was Mary Rogers the 2nd and I’m Mary Rogers the 3rd! Mary was so sweet that she bought my wedding dress for me! She also wore the same exact “mother of the bride” dress to my daughter, her beloved, Katie’s nuptials! I spent a lot of time these past couple of years getting even closer to her once she began living here close to us and I don’t egret a second of it! She was one tough and feisty lady, and I think it’s a miracle that she lived such a long time despite being premature and overcoming all of her many health conditions. Mary, you will be greatly missed. I loved you a lot.

To Jack, Robert, John and family,
I cannot think back to my childhood without having a memory of Mary. When I think of Mary I think of someone who was smart, full of energy and full of life. Someone who loved learning. I spent many of summer at Breezy listening to her share stories of her travels and explorations . I began my career in teaching the year she retired and she graciously shared all her treasured "teacher supplies" with me. I will forever hold these fond memories of Mary close to my heart. My sincerest condolences to your entire family. I know that my dad would also want to share his condolences with Jack. Jack and Mary were like family to him.
