As a coworker with Al, I’ve always enjoyed how he shared the wonderful stories of his family especially those of his loving grandchildren. There was always a twinkle in his eyes as he expressed his love for them. He will be missed and my deepest sympathy to the family.

What stands out the most for me about Al is that he was a great husband to Kit and a great father to Donna, Barbara & Kathleen & as you can see a great Granddad to Alexa & I know to Robert & Lauren too. In other words a great Family man.
Personally, he was a kind and thoughtful friend to me. He always expressed interest in what I might be doing or what my family might be doing.
I have several special memories: I remember the night we met Al at the Captain's Catch (I think it was there). What great timing. Kit was there and so was Al. It was fate. Then when Donna was baptized I was afraid to dress her. Al came over and showed me that she wouldn't break if I picked her head up off the bed. In fact I think he dressed her for me. Thanks, Al.
He never forgot to bring golf balls for me & those special desserts for house parties.
What I loved the most though was how good he was to my friend, Kit.
Al you will be missed.............

Condolences to the Forte family. I worked with Al at Baruch College where I was Director of StudentLife. Al helped out at many events and programs that I was responsible for—from commencement to Relay for Life. He was always generous in his support and was a joy to work with. May he Rest In Peace and enjoy the big golf course in heaven.

Being his granddaughter was amazing. He was the best grandpa there could ever be. He made me smile, took me wherever i wanted and gave me everything I could need and more. My grandpa was everything to me and he made such an impact in my life. I’m really proud to be called your granddaughter. You taught me how to play golf and you showed me how to subtract it was a little and you’d yell at me when I subtracted too fast. We made CVS trips and target runs because I always want to find something or go to Staples and you always take me every day after school when you pick me up. You’d take me somewhere we can go eat like McDonald’s or the diner that I always loved. You always said don’t tell mom because she’ll get mad at us and if we do bring home an ice cream for grandma she’d yell at you. Grandma would scream in the car if you were going too fast all that stuff and I look back at all of this and I think of what a wonderful life I had with you can’t wait for you to watch me grow up at sea and in life. Looks like God said it was you’re time which I dont believe but now you’re on the golf course in the sky and I couldn’t ask for a better place for you now. You can now play golf with uncle Ted and see aunt Blanche again. You’re even more free than you were here. I’ll be ok poppy i will be ok because of you everything that you’ve done for me I couldn’t ask for anything better. Everything you’ve taught me will always stick with me in life. Yesterday heaven gained a true angel and my bestfriend. I love you poppy and have fun golfing!
Love,
alexa

I secretly always wished I had a dad like Al. As I child I saw how he was with his daughters. I always thought how lucky they were. I recall him playing catch with Barbara so vividly and thinking how cool that was. He always had such a stable calming presence. The kind of person who made you feel comfortable right away. I remember when nanny died my father was crying so hard in the church. Al was seated behind us and put his hand on my fathers shoulder. I the sweetest voice he said “take it easy Bill”. My father turned to him an nodded with tears in his eyes but the pulled himself together. This tiny jester made all the difference in my father at that moment. He was a wonderful man. I feel so lucky to have known him.

My sincerest condolences to the Forte family. Worked with Al many years at Baruch College. A great carpenter who had many talents, a great laugh, always showing me pictures of the grandchildren. Al would take no guff from anyone he thought wronging him or his coworkers. So easygoing, he could nap on a sheet of plywood during his lunch hour. He explained to me he could snooze anywhere on the noisy deck of an aircraft carrier if he had to. Very saddened to learn of his passing. He will always be in my thoughts. best John Lonergan ..retired electrician from Baruch College. 212/4756100
