Obituary of John Papazian

John Papazian, 92, of Emerson Hill, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on May 24, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Hasmig (2013); loving father of Mary Kunzler and her husband, Ralph, and Harry Papazian and his wife, Diane; cherished grandfather of Victoria and John Papazian; dear brother of Haroutioun Papazian. Mr. Papazian was born in Methoni, Greece, in 1926. He emigrated to the United States in 1956, settling in Brooklyn, before relocating to Staten Island some time later. He owned and operated his own carpeting business in Brooklyn on 86th Street for 20 years. John was active as a Master in the Masonic Lodge for over 30 years (Mizpah Lodge 586). Some of his hobbies included fishing, gardening, and betting on the horses. Most of all he was a family man. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, 5/29, departing at 10 am. Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Crossroads Church (168 New Dorp Lane), at 10:45 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, 5/28, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm.
