Obituary of Emanuel R. Colombo

Emanuel R. Colombo, 92, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2019, at Carmel Richmond Nursing Home. He was husband of the late Josephine (1991), loving long-time companion of Margaret Romano; devoted father of Michele Mar-Tang and her husband, Jackson; dear step-father of Charles Romano and his wife, Maureen; cherished grandfather of Jason and Rebekah Mar-Tang; fond step-grandfather of Gregory Romano and his wife, Alysia, and Raymond Romano and his wife, Azadeh; fond step-great grandfather of Isabella; dear brother of Theresa Monte and Anthony Colombo. Emanuel was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Colombo was born and raised in Brooklyn and was graduated from Chelsea Vocational High School in Manhattan. After High School he proudly enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy, during WWII, stationed in the Pacific. He was employed for 25 years as a New York City Sanitation worker. Some of his hobbies included bowling, shooting pool, handball, racquetball, playing poker, and trips to Atlantic City. He also had a healthy appetite. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, departing at 9 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 9:30 am. Committal to follow in Rosehill Crematory, Linden, NJ. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
