Obituary of Paolo DiBenedetto

Mr. Paolo DiBenedetto, 84, of Westerleigh, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (1995); loving father of James DiBenedetto and his wife, Patricia, and Grace Elizabeth Lieberman and her husband, Alan; cherished grandfather of Ashley D'Esposito, Julia and Jeremy Lieberman; dear brother of Vita Camporeale, John DiBenedetto and his wife, Linda, Santo DiBenedetto and his wife, Maria, Nicholas DiBenedetto and his wife, Grace Ann, Agatha Ganz and her husband, Robert, Michael DiBenedetto and his wife, Kim; fond brother-in-law of Raquel DiBenedetto. He was predeceased by six siblings. Mr. DiBenedetto was also a devoted father-in-law of the late Michael D'Esposito. Paolo was born in Catania, Italy in 1935, and emigrated to the United States in 1960, settling in Hackensack, NJ, before finally relocating to Staten Island. He was employed for the NYC Housing Authority as a Plasterman for 22 years, before retiring in 1997. Some of his hobbies included tending to his fresh vegetable garden and being an avid European Soccer fan. Paolo was also a lover of pasta. Most of all he thoroughly loved spending time with his grandchildren. Recently he had a great time teaching them how to play Rummy. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 11 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C.Church at 11:30. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
