Obituary of Joseph C. Trancucci

Joseph C. Trancucci, 74, of Freehold, NJ, formerly of Westerleigh, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl (nee Janks) for 52 years; loving father of Debbie Jay and her husband, Jeff, Joanne Gubitosi and her husband, Tony, Tammy Vene and her husband, Nicholas, and Joseph Trancucci and his significant other Diane Sartori; cherished grandfather of Jeffrey, Joseph, Anna, Nicholas, Sophia, Anthony, Christopher and Michael; dear brother of the late Michael Trancucci; fond brother in law of Sibby, Diane and Michael Sweeney, Dale Lupo, and Robert and Peggy Janks. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joseph was born on Staten Island in 1944 and raised in Willowbrook, and graduated from McKee Technical High School. For 29 years he was employed by the FDNY as a firefighter, most recently at the "Hot Corner" on Jersey Street (Engine 155). He retired in 1998. In his earlier career he worked in Harlem at Engine 58. Mr. Trancucci volunteered at Ground Zero after 9/11 attacks. In his spare time he enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling, playing cards, and collecting classic cars. Joseph also enjoyed travelling, was an avid Yankees fan, and also enjoyed the NY Giants. Most importantly he loved his time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation, LTD. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church at 10 am. Private cremation to follow. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
