This will be just a brief highlight of my feelings.
Some of my best & favorite memories from my childhood and adult life involve my Aunt Roe (and her children). I loved having sleep overs at her house, swimming there over the summer, going to the parade every 4th of July and sharing our birthday together. Aunt Roe would always cook the best meals for me at our sleep overs. As an adult, I asked her for several recipes I remembered from her. After my family moved to FL, there was a 2 month time period that I was still on S.I. Aunt Roe made sure I still went there at least once a week for dinner, then we'd go to Ice Cream Delight for dessert. I remember her always giving us a dollar, which was a lot back then, to go get candy and her laughing because I'd be the only one to come back with at least a quarter to save. I loved going to BINGO with her and learning about all the other games that went along with it. I loved how she was there shortly after my first child was born, and pretty much always there for me on many occasions. I always looked up to her and felt a connection to her, maybe even wanted to be like her in some ways. Which may explain why I, inconveniently, decided to get married on a Friday, just so that we can not only share a birthday, but an anniversary as well. I will always remember her visits to FL, shopping, going to the beach, & playing yahtzee and card games to all hours of the night. I'll never forget the one time she got so mad over skip bo, I can still hear her saying, "you had that f'ing 2 the whole time." Good times, bad times, happy times, sad times, all aspects of life, she was there. I didn't think we'd have to lose her so soon, but since we did, I'm glad she didn't suffer long, and it's more comforting knowing that she lived her life her way. I loved her spunk, bluntness, caring nature, zaniness, cheerfulness; I loved her. She will always be in my heart until the day I die.
Missed forever,
Fran
