Obituary of John Savoca
John Savoca, age 71, passed away on February 6, 2020. He was the devoted son of the late Carmelo and Marie Savoca. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol Ann (2007). He leaves behind his current wife, Debbie Lane-Savoca. He was the loving father of Danielle Hamel and her husband Paul, John Savoca and Lori Anne Savoca. He was the fond step father of Jonmichael Lane, Laurie Lane-Eyles and her husband Tim. He was the cherished Pop Pop and Johnny of Paul and Andrew Hamel and Avery and Marin Eyles and Jonmichael Lane. He was predeceased by his dear brother William Savoca.
John was born and raised in Mariner's Harbor and remained a life-long Staten Islander. At an early age he developed a passion for collecting and restoring antique cars. He was the ultimate "Mr. Fix it" who learned these skills from his dad. John was the original founder of his band Witness over 45 years ago; they continued to perform until his passing. He was a very gifted singer who performed with his band regularly all over Staten Island. John was well known around the Karaoke circuit. He was honored and privileged to perform with many of his idols as a member of The Fireflies. John will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his ability to bring a smile to everyone's face. John's wonderful personality made him a pleasure to be around. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
