Obituary of John J. Perina III

John J. Perina III, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 9, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Beverly M. Perina (nee Thompson). He was the loving father of John Perina IV and his wife Karen, Janet Blois and her husband Robert, Steven Perina, Pamela Ortiz, Susan Perina, Patricia Kerber and her husband Michael and Ronald Perina and his wife Karen. He was the devoted grandfather of 20. He was the dear great grandfather of 14. He was the cherished brother of Arthur Perina and his wife Noreen, Edith Swigert, and the late Joan Ryckman and Robert Perina. John was born and raised in Staten Island. He married the love of his life and was blessed with a beautiful family. He worked in the refinery at Nassau Smelting for 24 years. Later, he worked as a laborer for DCAS for 10 plus years. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on cars. John had a tremendous bond with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a calming figure for them always finding a way to put them to sleep. John was a strong man who was a great role model that many of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren looked up to. At his core he was loving, caring and affectionate to those closest to him. He will be dearly missed. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, 3/13/2020, departing at 9:15 AM. A funeral service will be held in St. John's Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, 3/11/2020 and Thursday, 3/12/2020, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
