There are various styles of floral arrangements for a funeral. Each one has specific meanings and uses. Different types of arrangements may also be suggested based on your relationship to the deceased. Below, this article will provide a breakdown of the types of floral arrangements and which one may be right for you to send.

Casket Sprays

Casket Sprays are a type of arrangement made to sit atop the lower half of the casket during an open-casket funeral. They may also be placed in the center for a closed-casket display. Caskey sprays can vary widely in color and style. Typically, casket sprays are chosen by the spouse or children of the deceased.

Standing Sprays

Standing sprays are displayed on a stand or easel at the funeral home. These sprays are widely varying and can range from smaller, more modest options to larger, more opulent designs. Standing sprays are a good choice for anyone to send, regardless of their relationship to the deceased.

Wreaths and Gates

Wreaths symbolize eternity or the circle of life. Gates are similar to wreaths, except they feature a more teardrop or arrowhead shape. A Gate arrangement symbolizes the entrance to heaven and may also be adorned with a religious statue such as a statue of Mary. Both are generally recommended for more religious individuals. Wreaths and Gates are usually placed near the casket or at the grave site. It is common and appropriate for close friends or family members to send either.

Baskets

Basket arrangements are similar to standing sprays in that they vary widely in price and style to fit any budget. Some of the more elegant baskets can feature additional accents, such as religious statues. Baskets are a good choice for anyone to send, regardless of their relationship to the deceased.

Floral Rosaries

Rosary chains made with flowers to represent the beads are often sent to Catholic funerals. The rosaries often adorn the inside of the casket, along the top of the lid. Rosary flowers are often sent by grandchildren.

Crosses or Bible Stands

Floral crosses or bible stands are ornate displays of your deceased loved one’s faith. They can act as a religious tribute to your loved one. These are generally sent by close relatives.

Archways

Archways are large floral arrangements that surround the casket. They are a large display that is typically chosen by close family members, or by several family members pooling together.
