With the current state of the world, it is pretty easy to feel lonely. Loneliness can be a very difficult emotional hurdle to deal with when social distancing is the new normal. This article will look at ways you can feel less lonely during this difficult time.

Calling Friends and Family

Isolation can be hard on everyone. Reaching out to friends and family members via a phone call can be a good way to stay social, while socially distanced. Being able to hear a loved one’s voice on the other side of the phone can be very cathartic.

Video Meet-Ups

For work, school, and more; many people are turning to video chatting to get things done. But many people are utilizing these tools for social interactions. Platforms like Skype, Zoom, and Google Hangouts can be a great way to hang out with friends or family. Many people are planning fun events online, like happy hour or party games. Some people are even having virtual dinner parties by scheduling to eat together. It can be a nice way to reach out and come together, even while staying apart.

Book Clubs and Viewing Clubs

With so much free time on our hands now, this could be a good opportunity to do a book club with friends. Reading a book, and then meeting over video to discuss it can be a great way to hang out, while motivating you to read. Alternatively, you can do the same thing for new shows on streaming platforms. Connecting with friends to discuss a new season of a Netflix show can be a great way to have fun socially.

Group Workouts

People often go to the gym together, because they can help motivate each other. It is very easy to fall behind on your fitness goals while stuck at home. Consider scheduling some online workout time with your friends. You can do a number of exercises from home without needing specialized equipment. Spending 30 minutes to an hour doing light exercise will help you feel healthier and happier, and doing it with friends will make you more motivated to stick to your fitness goals.

Gaming Together

Many online games allow players to enjoy each other’s company as they play. Playing online games with your friends is a great way to pass the time together. There are many console and computer games that can be played together, as well as a few phone games. You and your friends can find one you all might enjoy, and play together.
