Obituary of Joyce D'Esposito
Joyce D'Esposito, Licata, age 67, passed away September 26, 2020 at New York-Presbyterian Columbia University Hospital, after a brief battle with lung cancer, surrounded by her loving children and devoted husband.
Joyce was born on December 4, 1952 to Mary and Anthony Licata, and was a lifelong Staten Island resident.
Joyce attended St. John Villa Academy, and graduated from Port
Richmond High School in 1970. While working at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Westerleigh, she met and fell in love with Mike D'Esposito. They married in 1972 and had three children. She worked as an administrative assistant at Barber Steamship Lines in Manhattan, and as a billing clerk for Ho-Ro Trucking for twenty years.
Joyce was an avid bowler at the family-owned Victory Lanes. She enjoyed traveling, attending book clubs, playing mah jongg, throwing massive family parties, and most of all, rooting for her children and grandchildren at countless baseball games throughout the country.
Joyce's welcoming, loving and giving personality immediately endeared her to all of those who were fortunate enough to have met her. She was a ray of sunshine that brought out the best in all of us, tirelessly devoted to the well being of her family and friends, as well as any stranger she chanced to meet.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Mike, her daughter, Michelle, and
son-in- law, Ben Silleccia, son, Anthony D'Esposito, and daughter-in-law, Agnieszka, son, Gregory D'Esposito and daughter-in-law, Alexis,
grandchildren, Sophia, Vince and Samantha Sillechia, A.J., Ella, Michael, and Matthew D'Esposito.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 10:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C.Church at 11:15 AM, followed by entombment in Resurrection Cemetery.
