Obituary of Richard Emil Tari

Richard (Richie Rich, The Boss) Tari, 63 of Staten Island passed away suddenly due to covid-related complications. He was the beloved husband to Dona Tari (Nee DellaRagione) of 13 years; Son to Emilio and Florence Tari; loving father to Richard and Amber; beloved step-father to Dona, Veda, and Carl; beloved brother to Mary-Ellen Fitzsimmons, Jean-Marie Tari-Blake, and the late Emilie Tari; cherished grandfather to Julia-Jean, Emily, Bella, Matthew, Peter, Paul, and Juliana.; Beloved uncle to Kristen, Thomas, Lori-Ann, and Kaylee and a great uncle to Dominic. Richard was born and raised in Gerritsen Beach Brooklyn and graduated from NYC Tech and moved to Staten Island in 1983. He then worked for the NYPD as an officer and dedicated 24 years of service including working at ground zero during 9-11. After retiring from NYPD he then worked for the USPS up until the present. He enjoyed traveling, dining out, road trips, cruising, visits to Atlantic City and Myrtle Beach with his wife Dona. He was also highly fond of music and was a music connoisseur. He is truly a hero who will be forever missed. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Child R.C. Church at 11:00 am. Family and friends may visit on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Arrangements include private cremation. Due to the current mandate all visitors must wear masks!
