Whenever I think of Uncle Tony, I get a wonderful feeling inside. His quiet way and ready smile put everyone immediately at ease. He always made me feel like he was happy to see me, and I to see him, even up to the current time.
Remembering back to when we were children, we were recalling trips of him taking us to the beach with our cousins. He literally saved my life on one of these trips. From the time when I was about 5, I can still call up the feeling of being dragged out to sea in an undertow and turning over and over and then miraculously being picked up and saved. It was Uncle Tony who had picked me up and saved me. I have never forgotten this.
In fact, all of us Tierney sisters wouldn't be here if Uncle Tony hadn't introduced his sister to our father when they served together in WW11. He was always part of our parent's story line and our father's war time stories.
He was a great husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace Uncle Tony.
Love
