Obituary of Peter Jonathan Wyso

Peter Jonathan Wyso passed away peacefully to his Field of Dreams with his sons, Brent and Jared by his side on February 11th 2018 at the age of 67. Peter is predeceased by his father Peter J. Wyso and his mother Eugenia O. Wyso. He is survived by his son Brent Wyso and spouse Christine Murphy of Manhattan, NY; and son Jared Wyso of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by grandchildren Trevor and Kate Wyso. Peter was born on September 8th, 1950 in Manhattan, NY and spent his childhood in Staten Island, NY at his home on Perry Ave and lived his adult life in Poughkeepsie, NY. He lived a life dedicated to his three loves, his sons Brent and Jared and the game of baseball. He played baseball throughout his youth on Staten Island and later at Hartwick College in Oneonta NY. He passed down his love, passion, and knowledge of the game to both of his sons and hundreds of young baseball players during his 40 years spent as a baseball coach. He spent time coaching youth leagues throughout Staten Island and Poughkeepsie, NY, he coached at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY, at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, NY helping them to win a New York State championship in 2006, and had the privilege of being the pitching coach for the Bluefield Orioles of the Appalachian Rookie League, a professional affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles organization. Peter's love of the game and passion for teaching changed the lives of every young ballplayer he coached and his legacy will be remembered through the game of baseball. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peter's name to the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation - a charity dedicated to the great baseball coach Cal Ripken Sr., his love of the game of baseball, and his passion for passing that love to young ballplayers around the country. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, departing at 9:30 AM. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at St. Peter's RC Church at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM.
