Obituary of Catherine Russo

Catherine (Caterina) Nunziata Russo age 78, died April 27th in Staten Island, New York. She was born May 3,1944 in Queens, New York, and was the daughter of the late Mary & Bartolo Russo. She was a devoted mother, nana, and great-nana. She will be loved and missed greatly for her kind heart and her beautiful loving nature. She cared for both her parents and her brother with such patience & love. Even though life wasn’t always easy she was always smiling. Family meant everything to her, and she was always beaming when she saw you. Her love for her family will stay with us always. She was a true gift to all who knew her. She is survived by daughters, Laurie (Brian) Dallas of Patchogue, New York; Jeanine (Jim) Russell of New Concord, Ohio; and a son John ( Jennifer)McAuley of Howell, New Jersey; grandchildren, Samantha ( Taylor) DiGuardi, Ciara Dallas, Meghan Dallas, Patrick Dallas, Alexandra ( Kevin) Sherry, James Russell Jr., Ryan Russell, Christopher Russell, Lyla McAuley, and Avery McAuley; great-grandchildren Isabella LeDroux, and Noelle DiGuardi. She loved all her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her niece Angela and nephew Nicholas very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Barney Russo. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, 5/4, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sylvester’s R.C. Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, 5/3, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
