Obituary of Benajah "Butch" Price
Benajah “Butch” Price age 79, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024. He was the beloved son of the late Russell Price and Victoria Kowalski; loving father of Jacqueline Kerney (Richard) and David Price (Joely); devoted “Pop Pop” of Alexandra, McKenna, Samantha, and Conner; cherished brother of Christina Weingartner, Patricia Lundberg and the late Irene Warner and the late Andrew Marron. He is also survived by his dear Goddaughter Joy Schaffner.
Butch was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ. He loved working with his hands and building beautiful works of art and furniture for his family and friends to enjoy. Butch was a master carpenter who also enjoyed playing pool, bowling, fishing, and crabbing. He was known for making his famous Cajun Shrimp, Stuffed Crab and Banana Cream Pie dishes. Butch was also well known for making Sunday Sauce insisting that every batch was “the best pot ever.” He also was a NASCAR and Washington Redskins fan. Most importantly, his grandchildren were “the apple of his eye” and enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. Butch will be remembered as a fun, goofy, loving, caring and hard-working man that will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Thursday, 3/7/2024, a Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 7:00 PM. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, 3/7/2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. On Monday, 3/11/2024, a Memorial Mass will be held in Blessed Sacrament Church at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ at 1:00PM.
