Obituary of JoAnne Micciulla

JoAnne Micciulla (Puleo) of Annadale passed away on March 3, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore, loving mother of Bruce and his wife Essie, Lisa, and her husband Leocadio, Danny and his wife Gina, and Reverend Angelo J. Micciulla, pastor of Holy Family RC Church. She was the beloved grandmother to Kayte and husband Tom, Christopher, Melissa, Josette, Leonora, Courtney, DJ, and Tommy, and beloved great-grandmother to Zinnia, James, Melodie, Aidan, Alicia, Jacob, Nathan, Sharmayne, and Janya. JoAnne was also the beloved sister to Jeanne, Norma Jo, Margaret, Andy, and Carina. JoAnne was born at home in Brooklyn. She traveled a lot as a child. She had fond memories of living in Italy, where she received First Holy Communion and Confirmation at the Vatican. She was a proud graduate of the Fashion Institute in Manhattan, where several of her designs were purchased by a top-line designer. She was an assistant buyer with Naval exchange. It was during this time that she lived in Eltingville on Figurea Ave. that she met the love of her life, Salvatore. They were married in 1968, and eventually settled in Staten Island, raising four children. JoAnne enjoyed reading, listening to her favorite music, ceramics, and anything to do with art. She loved making crafts. JoAnne was a CCD teacher for over 25 years. Teaching at St. Christopher's, St. John Neumann, and Holy Family RC Church. She especially enjoyed teaching First Communion class. She was a CCD coordinator at Sacred Heart RC Church. JoAnne was a proud member of the Stozenthaler Columbiettes, having served as president. She was also president of SI Chapter Columbiettes and later a member of the Father Capodanno Columbiettes. She was a proud supporter of the Wounded Warriors. She enjoyed attending fund raising events and helping others, any way possible. JoAnne loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. JoAnne had a kind, loving heart and will be missed by many. She has happily reunited with her beloved husband of 49 years. Memorial visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home on Wednesday 3/13 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday 3/14 departing the funeral home at 10AM for a mass at Holy Family at 10:30AM. Burial of cremains to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
